About Crunchbase News Team

The Crunchbase News team is an editorially independent newsroom within Crunchbase that reports on private companies, venture capital and startups for a growing audience of entrepreneurs, executives, investors, market researchers and salespeople. All of our journalism is informed by Crunchbase’s world-class data and our own original reporting.

The Crunchbase News team seeks a full-time Research and Data Analyst Intern for Summer 2024 to work on data analysis and research projects.

This role will work under the supervision of our Senior Data Editor to analyze Crunchbase data and support reports published on Crunchbase News platforms and in conjunction with partners, as well as outside media data requests and Crunchbase’s LLM and AI-generated Insights.

What You'll Do

• Under the guidance of our Senior Data Editor, support multiple teams and efforts at Crunchbase, including Crunchbase News, Product And Brand/Communications.
• Dive into data about leading sectors, venture funding, startup exits, high-profile founders and hires in Crunchbase and create Snowflake dashboards for internal analysis, while addressing inaccurate data.
• Help fulfill data analysis requests from outside media organizations.
• Support Crunchbase News reporters with data pulls and detailed analysis.
• Assist with data collection and analysis for live dashboards such as The Unicorn Board, Web3 Tracker and Crunchbase Tech Layoffs Tracker.

What We Are Looking For

• Strong interest in diving into data to analyze trends and address and fix anomalies
• A basic understanding of venture funding, startups and business finance
• Note, this role is focused on data analysis and does not require someone with writing/reporting/journalism experience
• SQL skills

Compensation: $25-30hr

You may also be entitled to receive equity and benefits.

$25—$30 USD
